Payment Policy

We use a tuition-based system during the academic year, while lessons during the summer months will be charged on a per-lesson basis. Fees will be adjusted yearly according to inflation. A contract will be sent out to all parents in August indicating this year's fees, however, feel free to contact us for more information.

Payment for the upcoming month is due before or at the first lesson of the month by Interac e-Transfer, cheque or cash.  Cheques should be made out to Etelka Nyilasi or Marek Orszulik.  Although it is less preferable due to cost, payment with credit or debit card is also available in person and via PayPal (through this website).  If you know you are going to be away for the first lesson of the month, please make arrangements for payment in advance.

Cancellation Policy

In cases of illness or inclement weather, students may request an online lesson. If severely unwell and/or are unable to do an online lesson, students may ask to reschedule up to 2 lessons. 24 hr advance notice is required to credit a lesson for make-up, exceptions to this rule may be made at the discretion of The Music Grove. Refunds or make-up lessons beyond the stated 2 will no longer be offered, however students may send videos for feedback. If your instructor must cancel a lesson, those lessons will always be rescheduled or refunded.

Make-up lessons

Make-up lessons will be offered/scheduled near the end of the school year, or throughout the year if scheduling allows it, in-person or virtually. Alternatives to make-up lessons may also be offered, such as online group classes to small groups (no larger than 6 students) or asynchronous lessons (student sends videos for detailed feedback).

Discontinued Lessons

Please provide one month's notice for withdrawal. Discontinued lessons will be subject to a cancellation fee of one month’s tuition if discontinued after February 1st

Late Payment Penalty

Payments are due by the 1st of each month. Payments more than 5 days late will incur a penalty of $20. If tuition is not received 5 days after the due date, lessons will be terminated, and the spot will be filled with another student. All past-due accounts will receive a courtesy email or text message prior to lesson termination. We recommend setting a monthly alarm to ensure timely payments are made. Alternatively, a monthly invoice can be requested.

No Show Policy

Any lessons missed due to not showing up to the lesson will be charged, and no make up lesson will be offered. No exceptions.

Lesson Etiquette

1. Fingernails must be kept short (except guitar students!) and clean.

2. Please arrive on time, take your shoes off at the door, and wash your hands. Please do not come in or ring the doorbell until 10 minutes before your lesson, especially if you know that you are my first appointment of the day.

3.  No food or gum during the lesson. Water or drinks in to-go cups are OK.

4. Parents of students aged 6 and under are encouraged to be present during the lesson. Parents of older students are welcome to sit in on lessons, but it is not mandatory. In both circumstances, it is important not to distract the child.
